Dad & Baby

Built by a dad who wished this existed

“When my partner told me she was pregnant, I was over the moon. Then the reality hit — I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.”

— Tom, Founder of Dad & Baby

The honest truth

I searched for an app. Something that would tell me what was going on, what I should be doing, and how to actually help. There were hundreds of pregnancy apps — all designed for mums. The information aimed at dads was either a single chapter in someone else's app, a patronising leaflet, or just “be supportive” with no explanation of what that actually means at 3am when she's crying and you don't know why.

I felt invisible in the process. I was at every scan, every appointment, every late-night Google search about whether that symptom was normal. But there was nothing out there that spoke to me as a dad. Nothing that treated me as an equal participant in the most important thing that had ever happened to me.

So I built it

Dad & Baby started as a set of notes I was keeping for myself — things I wished someone had told me, questions I forgot to ask the midwife, financial stuff I had to figure out the hard way. It grew into the app I wished had existed from day one.

Every feature in this app exists because I needed it. The contraction timer? I was panicking on the night and had no idea when to go to hospital. The birth plan builder? We left it too late and felt completely unprepared. The glossary? I spent half my partner's appointments pretending I understood what the midwife was saying.

This isn't a corporate product built by a team who read some research papers. It's built by a dad who lived it, got things wrong, learned the hard way, and wants to make sure other dads don't have to.

The things nobody tells you

Nobody tells you that you'll feel anxious too. That you'll worry about money, about your relationship changing, about whether you'll be a good dad. Nobody tells you that it's okay to feel overwhelmed, scared, and excited all at the same time. Nobody tells you that your mental health matters just as much during this time.

That's why Dad & Baby includes mental health resources, partner check-ins, and an anonymous forum where dads can actually talk about how they're really feeling. Because pretending everything is fine doesn't help anyone.

Built for UK dads, specifically

This isn't a generic global app with a Union Jack slapped on it. The financial guides cover Child Benefit, Shared Parental Leave, Sure Start grants, and JISAs. The mental health resources link to the NHS, MIND, PANDAS, and Andy's Man Club. The birth plan follows NHS guidelines. The contraction timer uses the NHS 3-1-1 rule. Everything is built around how things actually work in this country.

The bigger picture

Dad & Baby isn't just an app — it's about changing the dynamic at home. When a dad feels informed and confident, he shows up differently. He's more present at appointments. He's more supportive during the tough weeks. He knows what questions to ask, what to pack, when to worry and when not to. He's not standing on the sidelines feeling helpless — he's an active, equal partner in the whole journey.

That changes everything. It strengthens the relationship between partners at a time when it's under more pressure than ever. It builds a deeper bond between a father and his child from before they're even born. And it creates a more supportive home environment — not just for the pregnancy, but for the years that follow.

Research consistently shows that involved fathers lead to better outcomes for children, stronger relationships, and healthier families. But dads can't be involved if nobody gives them the tools to be. That's what this is for.

My promise to you

It’ll always be honest

No corporate waffle. I’ll tell you what you actually need to know, the way I wish someone had told me.

Your mental health matters

I struggled and didn’t talk about it. This app takes dads’ mental health seriously because I know what it’s like to feel alone in it.

The core is free, forever

The essential tools — guides, checklists, timer, birth plan — will always be free. I built this to help dads, not to squeeze them.

Your data is yours

I’m a dad too. I wouldn’t want my family’s data sold. We collect the minimum, never sell it, and you can delete everything at any time.

If you're reading this and you're about to become a dad — congratulations. It's the most incredible, terrifying, life-changing thing that will ever happen to you. And you don't have to figure it out alone.

— Tom
